Hearing about the Café’s existence
- Rumors! Lots of rumors abound throughout Mage society, as well as other groups
- Stumble upon it accidentally in the High Umbra, or some random accident of teleportation
- Gossip about the place from customers of its former incarnation, the Nexus Bar.
- The Nexus was around 15-20 years ago, and was destroyed in the Horizon Wars. It was basically, a bar with lodgings that catered to Mages especially and Night-Folk in general.
From a linked chantry or surviving Horizon Realm
- Check the growing list of Linked Chantries and Other Places
- From a location set into a sub-setting being run by a storyteller.
- Many existing Horizon realms have links to portals heading to the Anywhere Café, either directly or after a few portal hops.
- A chantry can have a link to one of those realms, or to the Café directly, if it chooses.
- Linked Realms and Chantries will be considered ‘regulars.’
From the High Umbra, by accident or on purpose
- Umbral maps are also available for those who can’t always use the portals for whatever reason.
- Note that since this is a very recent addition to the Horizon, and it’s a pocket realm, it won’t appear on maps unless they are magically-updated.
From the Middle Umbra
- This will mostly be by accident, unless you have a map or very good directions. (Or some kind of power that allows you to be brought to a place of your choosing.)
- Also, many spirits know of the location; there’s a chance that if you tell one to bring you ‘anywhere,’ it will deposit you at the front door.
From the mundane world
- There are any number of accidental ways to wind up at the Anywhere Café unintentionally, including paradox backlashes and wild ‘take me anywhere’ spellcasting.
- Intentionally getting here without an act of chance (or Chance) involves Spirit 2 / Correspondence 3 / Mind 3 to be able to cross the Gauntlet and get to the High Umbra, or some sort of teleportation device that you can use to move through Umbralspace.
Going Home
- Leaving involves using a portal booth (which looks very much like a TARDIS) available in the foyer of the Café.
- If you can’t get a portal back, just ask Lucien. He can find someone to get you close to where you need to be.
A rote to go there from the mundane world
Going Anywhere
Correspondence 3, Mind 3, Spirit 2
With this rote, you can go from any location in the mundane world to the Anywhere Café. Difficulty for this rote is the local Gauntlet, minus any modifiers to the casting. Difficulty cannot go below 3.
