Code of Conduct

Playing in the Anywhere Café has some basic rules of conduct, just like any other place you can play.

  1. There are no Sysops aside from Infinimata on DiceHaus, and as a result, we don’t have a team of people deciding disputes between players. As a result, we all need to put on our grownup hats and resolve things as best as possible.
     
    • Users have the capability to ignore one another, which includes private messages. Please make use of this if things become uncomfortable between you and someone else.
        
    • The Host and Staff of a room can kick or ban players, and as soon as I have staff, I will be enabling their capability to do so, but for now, it’s just me running this, so I’m going to be asking for patience with regard to handling issues.
       
    • Note that my first action on these matters may be to mute all parties involved on the server and take it to a PR or Discord. This is to prevent escalation of the situation, not to lay blame. We have a mute, a kick, and a ban for Hosts for a reason.
       
    • I will do my best to decide matters in a fair and even-handed matter, but they may result in temporary bans, or other punitive measures. If you have an issue with how it was handled, a mail to anywherecaferp@gmail.com with a calm, reasoned explanation of why is the best way to deal with it.
       
  2. There are some types of RP that are not permitted in the public room. We have too many chatters who were, themselves, victims of sexual assault to allow them to be revictimized by their hobby.
     
    • Sexual RP in room should not go beyond an R rating. Playing out sex in detail is something that really belongs in a private room or on Discord. You can allude to it having happened, or even discuss it ICly, but the actual acts need to be in private.
       
    • ICly nonconsensual sexual RP is private-only RP. Playing out rape scenes in public is a banning offense, which may be permanent depending on the situation. Either fade to black on the details, or do this in private.
       
    • Sexual RP of any sort with an underage character will not be permitted, ever. This is a perma-banning offense.
       
    • Coercion or pressure to RP sex scenes is rape. You will not change the host’s mind on this. You will be permabanned if I discover you have done this. If this has been done to you, please bring me logs and talk to me.
       
    • Excessive gore may be requested to be moved to PR as well; I leave this one up to the discretion of the chatters, but in general, please try to be respectful of one another.
       
  3. Cheating of any sort, including fudging die rolls, making fake sheets, suddenly changing a sheet to reflect a skill you didn’t have before, or other things I haven’t thought of, is still against the rules. Games have rules for a reason. Cheating at a game sucks. You will be banned for this, and it might be permanent depending on the situation and the number of times it has happened.
     
  4. As far as your basic conduct goes, take a line from the Code of Ananda and manifest that motto, which is:
     
     Don’t be a fucking asshole.
     
    Be cool. Handle conflicts as calmly as possible. Don’t get angry when there’s no good reason. If you’re ready to explode, take a step back and get calmer before handling it. Help others. Don’t dogpile on someone who makes a mistake. Offer assistance and counsel in the kindest way you can. Respect your fellow players and yourself.

  5. What is allowed in the room is entirely based on what will fit with the overall milieu, and what will mesh well for RP purposes. You don’t have to be nice ICly, but you do have to behave OOCly. If you want to play a character that exists to kill other characters, for example, you will be disappointed when I whip out the Book of NO.
     
  6. Most importantly: have fun. Don’t let minor things harsh your enjoyment.
